Defending team eagerly awaits this year’s competition - 20 Feb 2013

The defending champion team in the 2013 Golf Society Championship – that of the Den Golf Society, based in Smarden – is eagerly awaiting this year’s competition.

Roger Wilmot, Den Golf Society 2012 captain, commented: “Everybody got a buzz from last year’s championship – for us it felt like we were playing for the Ryder Cup.”

He added the team is looking forward to this year’s championship not only as the 2012 competition itself was much enjoyed but also because the team was so well looked after by the staff of Tenterden Golf Club.

Major effort to prepare course - 20 Feb 2013

The green staff of Tenterden Golf Club are currently working hard to prepare its course ahead of 2013 Golf Society Championship rounds and other events.

Considerable investment has been made in the latest hollow tining equipment which is assisting in bringing the well-drained greens into top condition. New distance markers have been introduced, hazards more clearly defined, and the boundaries of some fairways realigned to improve their appearance as well as assisting play. Furthermore, the driving range, par 3 practice course, and putting green have been significantly enhanced.
